We caught up with our ambassador, Lauren and asked her why she feeds Omega Equine Feed Supplements to her young horse Oakleigh.
Omega Equine Biotin Extra
- For cracked or damaged hooves
- Keeps hooves healthy
- Improved coat, mane and tail
- Supports healthy hoof, hair, bone and muscle growth
“I have fed all of my horses biotin as a supplement for years! I really swear by it for healthy hoof support! This biotin supplement by Omega Equine has additional MSM (which I will talk about later on), Methionine, Zinc, Calcium and Omega 3.
The primary reason I feed biotin is for hoof support, biotin targets cracked and damaged hooves and helps them to grow which is very important, as the saying goes “no hoof, no horse!”
As well as cracked hooves becoming a problem with the strength of the hoof wall, it can also cause shoes to come off prematurely and even break, as well as cracked hooves being prone to abscesses as the dirt can get stuck in the cracks and cause infections.
An added bonus of feeding biotin is that it helps to improve coat, mane and tail. Improving length and shine! Omega Equine’s Biotin Extra has added Methionine as it helps to optimise the digestion of biotin, and additional MSN, zinc, calcium and omega 3″

Omega Equine MSM
- Soft tissue and cartilage support
- Optimising flexibility
- Healthy response to inflammation
- Good hoof health
“I started feeding MSM (methyl sulphonyl methane) when Oakleigh was young as he needed support with his growth and I wanted to ensure that he would have healthy tendons, ligaments and connective tissues.
MSM is sulphur in its purest form, which is usually available in a horses diet, yet due to the increased use of highly processed feeds, lack of quality grazing and forage and increased time spent in the tables, horses’ diets are diminishing in MSM.
MSM is extremely beneficial to your horse because it supports the naturally soft tissues and cartilage. By feeding MSM as a supplement, you ensure that sulphur is delivered to your horse in the areas where it is most needed. MSM is typically required around the joints to allow for maximum flexibility.
MSM also concentrates in the connective tissues and ligaments, which are necessary for fluid mobility and overall muscle health.
MSM promotes a healthy response to inflammation, benefiting both a strong respiratory system and a healthy skin. Sulphur is a necessary component for bonding protein strands in the hoof, as well as maintaining the integrity of the hoof wall.
Us horsey owners will have no trouble incorporating this natural source of bio-available sulphur into their horse’s daily feed routine because it is highly palatable. Omega MSM is competition legal because it is manufactured in the United Kingdom from high-quality suppliers”
