Tried & Tested Ariat Wythburn II Sherpa Waterproof Boots

With the cold wet weather here we have been testing the new Ariat Wythburn II Sherpa Lined waterproof boots. 

The Tester

Jacqui jumped at the chance to try these boots! Having 3 ponies and a springer spaniel she is out in the elements many hours at a time. Jacqui said she also suffers from Raynaud’s Syndrome which means her hands are toes are the first to go numb when she gets cold.

Ariat Wythburn II Sherpa Waterproof Boot Review

“These boots have the softest sherpa lining and you just cannot wait to sip your feet into them! The leather on the outside is so soft and supple that the boots feel comfortable from the moment you put them on. This style of Wythburn have laces at the front bit no rear zip like an older model of Wythburn I have, I will talk later about the pros and cons of this.

They are very warm to wear and water just beads off the leather. Being a leather boot you do have to let them dry naturally and condition them however that is the same with all leather yard boots so it is just something I have gotten used to doing. The sole on these is perfect for walks over the fields providing a good amount of grip. They are very stylish and look lovely on so perfect when you want to look smart out at the park or the kids playground!

The foot of these boots is a nice width allowing for thicker socks – not sure everyone would use a thick sock with them but I like very toasty feet. 

Zip or no zip? I personally would prefer a rear zip as find having to lace and un-lace them quite hard work when you have cold fingers. Also they are wide at the ankle to allow you to get them on which for me is not great as I have quite slim ankles so I cannot get them tight enough to stop my foot slipping. I personally prefer a more closely fitted design which would only be possible with a rear zip boot like the Ariat Coniston.

As a summary these boots are very warm, waterproof and comfortable. The lining is supersoft and feels instantly cosy. I would just prefer them to be a closer fit around my ankle”
