First impressions..

I was excited  to take delivery of this jacket, having owned the longer H20 Parka throughout last winter I was wanting a shorter version for less wet days – you know the days with light drizzle rather than torrential downpours! On trying this jacket on I went for a large so that I could layer underneath if I needed to. I am a size 14/16 in tops.

My first impression of the jacket is how light it feels in terms of weight, the jacket feels really comfortable to wear and it moves with you due to the stretch fabrication – the fabric isn’t stretchy as such but really does stretch with you as you move (I can’t work out how this happens – but it really is fantastic!!) This means when riding in the coat it feels like you are wearing a jumper, it is a really nice length and has the option to open the saddle vents however I found I didn’t need to.

The coat has a 2-way zip so easy to un-do slightly when in the saddle. The pockets are the perfect size for putting your hands in to warm up and has a nice internal chest pocket for your phone. The jacket is so lightweight to wear and really comfortable over a t-shirt or a fleece. I have found a thin base layer style top or t-shirt with this coat is perfect for this time of year. I haven’t got too hot with the quality of the fabric meaning it is fully breathable so takes the moisture away from your skin. I love it out walking the dog, generally I regret wearing a coat as I get hot half way however not the case with this amazing jacket.

Value for money

The jacket retails for £280 (October 2022), for me this is a lot of money for a plain waterproof jacket however having used this jacket the last month – I would definitely buy it. It is so much more than your average coat. It is the jacket I choose to throw on every time. I want to wear it to take my toddler to the playground, yet I also want to wear it on the yard, riding and out walking the dog. A fantastic smart jacket which not only looks the part, it performs no matter the weather. The quality of the fabric, fit and design make it stand above it’s competitors.

Tried and Tested Review

What our reviewer said…

I purchased this jacket as I suffer with poor circulation and wanted a coat to keep me warm and dry no matter the weather. I ride in all weathers as well as take my dog out training days and this jacket has been the best coat I have ever bought. Being a longer length means I no longer get wet legs especially when teamed with my Ariat Coniston Boots. The zip is really easy to use, the jacket has lots of pockets – perfect for storing treats and all your belongings! The beautiful soft lining makes you feel cosy the instant you put the coat on. I have been out all day in torrential rain in this coat and stayed warm and dry. The jacket is really breathable so stops me getting too hot. The hood is lined with faux fur and stays put and is a great size.

Riding – I prefer to ride in a shorter style jacket however around the yard and walking the dog this coat really works well. Wet and cold country park visits to the playground with my toddler are also enjoyable now I can stay warm and dry.

Washing

The coat is machine washable at 30. I have washed it a lot and it still looks as good as the day I bought it. Drying the coat can take a while so make sure you choose a sunny day to allow it to drip dry on the line.

Value for money

Priced at £310, this is not a low price coat but for a full winter season staying warm and dry I think it is worth every penny.

Review Summary

Out of the two jackets I would choose the longer Tempest Waterproof Parka Jacket. The main reason is I like the fact my legs and bum are kept warm and dry. I love the really soft and cosy lining as well as the cosy stay put hood. The best coat I have ever owned!

Jacqui puchased the Tempest Parka jacket and was gifted the Prowess Jacket.
