Established in 1974 as B & J Saddlery by Barrie & Lynda Mortlock, our first shop was situated in the centre of Ingatestone village. During this time our trade stand was attending major events throughout the UK.
When we moved to larger premises in 1983 we renamed our business Ingatestone Saddlery Centre. We continued to exhibit at shows until 1998 when we decided to enlarge our shop and concentrate on our core business. Within 2 years we were searching once again for larger premises and in March 2001 moved into our present location at Margaretting. We are situated in an enviable position at the junction of the A12/A414 on the B1002 with car parking for in excess of 200 cars and with easy access for horseboxes & trailers.
Our shop is massive, and houses one of the best stocked and displayed equestrian shops in Europe. You can browse for hours, relax & refresh yourself in our excellent café or stroll in the grounds. Young or older, our product range is vast and satisfies most needs of the pleasure rider through to the serious competitor. There is something for everyone.
In 2005 a purpose built feed barn was built and we offer a wide choice of feed at competitive prices. The product range of feed is growing all the time. This cash & carry service is a phenomenal success with our regular customers. For our feed and bedding click and collect service click here.
Two years after our move, an all-weather outdoor ménage was installed to improve the facilities for saddle fitting. Our saddle manager Roger Coates is a Master Saddler and qualified saddle fitter with a wealth of experience in all aspects of saddle manufacture, repair & fitting. We offer fittings at our store or or in the comfort of your own surroundings. Click here to find our more about our saddle fitting service.
Our web site shows a small range of the products available in-store. Why not visit us – we know you will have an enjoyable experience. Seeing is believing.
We are a BETA Retail Member. BETA is a world-renowned trade association of professional companies. Set up to serve the best interests of the equestrian industry, the individual rider and its members. See www.beta-uk.org for more information.
Shop with Confidence at Ingatestone Saddlery Centre
Fully Trained Staff All our staff at Ingatestone Saddlery have their own qualities and experience which is why, as a store we can offer you advice on a huge range of products as there is always someone on hand who is not only trained in what the product does and how to use it, they also have often used the products themselves. Whilst we do not sell wormers online, we always have an AMTRA SQP (Animal Medicines Training Regulatory Authority Suitably Qualified Person) in-store which allows us to sell wormers 7 days a week.
Safety Wear Fitting We work very closely with BETA and safety wear manufacturers to keep up to date on the safety wear standards. All of our hat and body protector fitters have to complete intensive training to make sure they meet the required standard. We regularly review our safety wear staff to ensure they can offer the high standard fitting service required. We also offer a free check service of your current hat or body protector. Often we can make slight adjustments as your child grows or your hat padding beds in meaning you do not need to purchase a new one. Our staff are not driven by sales - we will happily look at your item of safety wear and go through the checks with you to ensure it fits correctly and can do what it is meant to do.
